FAQ

Member FAQ

  • Q: What is this sites purpose?
    • To allow like minded people in the Ipswich and surrounding areas to get together regularly and share knowledge and experience with other web developers. We don't mind if you are a programmer or graphic artist, 1 month experience or 10 years experience. Everyone is welcome.
  • Q: Can anyone be a member?
    • Yes. It is free to join. We will be meeting at different venues over time so all you need to do is bring enough money for drinks or nibblies depending on the venue. If you have any ideas regarding suitable venues please let us know. Either email Paul or Rod and give us the details and we will let the group know. We hope to get a mailing list happening eventually, but until then we will have a non-interactive mailing list for info and newsletters.
  • Q: Do I need to pay money or do any volunteering?
    • It is free to join this group. The only cost to you will be fuel or transport to get to the meetings and food or drink on the night. No volunteers are required unless they want to volunteer.
  • Q: What if I can't make it to all the meetings?
    • We would like you to try your best to make it to as many meetings as you can, but we understand that life does get in the way of enjoyable things like this group. If you can't make it, don't worry. We want people to enjoy themselves and get as much as they can from each meeting.
  • Q: Who is running this site and why?
    • Well my name is Paul Campbell and I own Paul's Custom Creations, a Web Design business located in Redbank Plains. I designed the website you are now viewing. Rod Nicholls, owner of Jericho Web Services, has kindly donated the domain hosting, his expertise at domain management and the registration of a domain name for this site.
  • Q: Will this site help me get work designing websites?
    • We hope it does. That is the idea. In the coming weeks we hope to have a resume page where people can put links to their resume and portfolio so businesses checking out this site will find them.
  • Q: Can I bring a friend along with me to the meetings?
    • Of course you can. The only problem we would encounter with that scenario is running out of room if the venue is small. I don't mind problems like that. So no, bring as many people as you can. Better yet, get them to join up and we will have some idea of how big the group is. While we are interested in Web Development we don't mind straying a bit to either side. As long as we can all benefit in some way with the topics being discussed all should be good. Give us some ideas regarding this. We will require topics and people to do short talks perhaps. Email myself or Rod and we will put the ideas out there for discussion.
  • Q: Have we got a say in the running of the group?
    • Of course you have. It would be great for more people to come on board and run with this idea. It can only benefit all involved. Anytime that you can get some face-to-face time with like minded people is great and we hope to get businesses involved in the long term.

Changed the layout of the site to allow a wider content area. Hope you like it. Had major dramas with IE 6 collapsing the content area. Typical.
